Breast Reconstruction

Ovadia Plastic Surgery

Breast reconstruction restores shape, symmetry, and confidence after mastectomy or lumpectomy. Dr. Ovadia is fellowship-trained in both craniofacial surgery and complex gender surgery/microsurgery, giving him an exceptional foundation in the precision these procedures demand.

Implant-based reconstruction uses silicone or saline implants, often placed with the assistance of tissue expanders in a staged approach. This option typically involves shorter operative times and recovery.

Autologous (flap) reconstruction uses your own tissue — most commonly from the abdomen (DIEP flap), back (latissimus dorsi), or thigh — to create a natural-feeling breast mound. The DIEP flap preserves abdominal muscle while transferring skin and fat with its blood supply using microsurgical techniques.

Oncoplastic reconstruction combines cancer-removing surgery with plastic surgery techniques at the time of lumpectomy, allowing breast conservation with an aesthetically favorable result.

Nipple reconstruction and areola tattooing complete the process, typically performed as outpatient procedures after initial reconstruction has healed.

Revision reconstruction addresses complications or dissatisfaction from prior surgery, including capsular contracture, implant malposition, asymmetry, or conversion from implant-based to autologous reconstruction.

Dr. Ovadia works closely with your breast surgeon and oncologist to coordinate timing and approach, ensuring that reconstruction integrates seamlessly with your overall cancer treatment plan. Both immediate (at the time of mastectomy) and delayed reconstruction options are available.

Reconstruction following mastectomy is typically covered by insurance. Our office handles authorization and navigates coverage on your behalf.
